Kawaichiya Ryokan, the traditional Japanese inn, offers Japanese attention to detail mixed with the western comforts you'll know and love. The ryokan has rooms for every traveler, ranging from economic Japanese rooms to sprawling mixed-style rooms with open-air baths, so you know you'll be able to find something to fit your needs.
The Ryokan itself has recently undergone major renovations and, over the past few years, each of the rooms has been updated with new amenities and facilities added. This means the inclusions are modern and the rooms are immaculately well kept, as are the range of ryokan offers. This also means many of the rooms, while traditional, are exceptionally modern - the design is comfortable and appealing while being warm and cosy and the furniture is all of a high standard.
The restaurant serves breakfast as well as dinner, which includes a variety of western breakfast options alongside more Japanese dishes, and a variety of traditional Japanese meals for dinner. The ryokan also offers ski drying and storage spaces for the ski enthusiasts amongst the group, and there is a ski shuttle bus to get you there and back easily. Guests have access to a communal lobby lounge area as well, which includes free use of a computer if you need it as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the ryokan.
One of the ryokan's most beautiful features, though, is its onsens. The ryokan offers a range of indoor onsens alongside some stunning open-air ones, both for female and male, which are naturally heated and mineralized and the ideal way to relax after a long day. The spaces are open and tranquil and an emphasis has been placed on natural materials and connection to the landscape.

Indoor bath uses the same source of hot spring as OGAMA, which is designated as Japan's Natural Monument. Outdoor bath uses the same source of hot spring as SHINYU, which is said to be the most excellent hot spring in this town.
