Transportation Overview
Train Travel to Tomamu
If you’re arriving at Chitose airport, getting to Tomamu won’t take you too long. Catch the train one station to Minami Chitose Station, and from there you have a choice of catching either Super Tokachi or Super Ozora on the Sekisho Line. Make sure to reserve your ticket for this express trip – it will cost around 3850 yen and take just over an hour. If you’re flying into Tokachi Obihiro Airport, you can also catch the bus to Obihiro Station, from which you can catch an express train into Tomamu station. Or, if you’re coming in from Sapporo direction, a half an hour train ride from Sapporo Station will take you to Minami Chitose Station, from which you can catch the hour long train to Tomamu station. Once you’re at Tomamu station, it’s simply a matter of organising the complimentary shuttle bus to get you to your hotel!

Airport Shuttle Bus to Tomamu
Tomamu is connected to three close-by airports in Hokkaido making it a breeza to access no matter your approach. There are shuttle buses between Tomamu and New Chitose Airport (2 hour drive), Asahikawa Airport (4.5 hour drive) and Obihiro Airport (2 hour drive). A convenient and simple way to travel, the shuttle buses stop at Tomamu Resort Centre, The Tower and Risonare.

Inter-resort Shuttles to Tomamu
Hokkaido ski resorts are rather well connected by shuttle buses, in fact Tomamu resort has the most routes offered in Hokkaido. Tomamu is connected to Furano, Niseko, Rusutsu, and Sapporo city by shuttle bus. Ski Japan Holidays can arrange the first your booking up until two weeks before travel, as long as seats are available.

Rental Car Travel to Tomamu
Renting a car for your travels throughout Japan’s ski regions gives you flexibility and freedom, and Tomamu is an excellent choice to drive to, located only an hour or so from Chitose airport and just five minutes off the highway.
Foreign visitors driving in Japan will require not only their valid driver’s license from their own country, but also a valid international driver’s license.
