Train Travel to Myoko Kogen
Train travel to Myoko Kogen is relatively easy, just as long as you aim for the correct train station called “Myoko-Kogen”, not to be confused with the new bullet train stop of “Joetsu Myoko”.
From Myoko-Kogen train station to the ski resort, the drive is approximately 15 minutes. You may take a local taxi, they are generally waiting outside the station, alternatively get the station staff to help you call a ride. Check with your travel agent if your hotel offers complimentary pick up services and let the hotel know your arrival time in advance to minimise your wait time at the station.
From Tokyo: Your best option is riding the Hokuriku Line bullet train to Nagano station, then transferring to the local train line through to Myoko-Kogen, a 45 minute ride.
From Osaka or Kyoto: Take the Thunderbird limited express train to Kanazawa station and transfer to Hokuriku Line bullet train, a one hour ride will get you to Joetsu Myoko station. Change lines to the local train and ride for 35 minutes to Myoko-Kogen station.
From Nagoya: Take the limited express Shinano train to Nagano station then transfer to the local train and ride 45 minutes through to Myoko-Kogen.

Japan Rail Pass: For travellers visiting cities either side of the ski resort stay, a Japan Rail Pass is a fantastic investment, allowing unlimited train travel on most Japan Rail trains, for periods of 7, 14 or 21 days to suit your travel schedule.

Private Transfer to Myoko Kogen
Private jumbo taxis, regular size taxis, microbuses and other vehicles can be arranged to meet the needs of your group. For larger groups, a pre-booked private transfer is the most simple and hassle-free option.
Enjoy total peace of mind with door to door service. Your group will be met by the driver holding a name card with your confirmed booking name, then shown to your vehicle. Ride right to the door of your accommodation, with comfort breaks scheduled on longer journeys.

Airport Shuttle Bus to Myoko Kogen
The Nagano Snow Shuttle is a bus service running from the airport directly through to the ski resort offering transportation in both directions. There are 2 scheduled toilet/snack breaks on the trip. We can arrange the seats for you.

Inter-resort Travel to Myoko Kogen
Shuttle buses between the region’s most popular ski resorts are available. Myoko Kogen, Hakuba, Nozawa Onsen and Shiga Kogen are just over two hours from each other, and if you plan to visit more than one resort the inter-resort shuttle will be your most convenient mode of transport.

Rental Car Travel to Myoko Kogen
If you plan to rent a vehicle to drive to Myoko Kogen, the closest English speaking rental service is in Nagano city near the train station: Tocoo!
Make sure you have snow tires or chains - you’ll need it with the amount of snow that falls in Myoko.
Foreign visitors to Japan will require not only their valid driver’s license from their own country, but also a valid international driver’s license.
