Transportation Overview

The most common route to travel to Furano is from New Chitose Airport via shuttle bus. Some guests may like to spend time in Sapporo City before heading to the slopes, there is also a bus from Sapporo to Furano. For those flying from Tokyo, you may opt to fly to Asahikawa airport, another entry point to Hokkaido; shuttles are also running to Furano from here. Train travel from New Chitose Airport, via Sapporo and Asahikawa Airport is also possible. For those who want the privacy and convenience of a private transfer, jumbo taxis seating 7 passengers with luggage, or regular taxis for 2 guests with luggage, can be organised.

Guests travelling from New Chitose Airport will need to transfer once in Sapporo city, and again at Takikawa station, with the first two trains being rapid services, and the final one a regular train.

Likewise, guests travelling from Sapporo, will take a 1 hour rapid service to Takikawa station and swap trains for the final hour ride to Furano.

Asahikawa city and Furano are connected by rail, but if you are arriving at Asahikawa airport, it is quicker to take the shuttle bus straight to Furano.

Airport Shuttle Bus to Furano

Furano is connected by shuttle bus to both Asahikawa Airport and New Chitose Airport. Travel time is within 1.5 hours and 3 hours respectively. A convenient and simple way to travel, the shuttle buses stop at most major hotels in Furano.

Inter-resort Shuttles to Furano

Hokkaido ski resorts are rather well connected by shuttle buses, and these can be booked up until two weeks before travel, as long as seats are available. Furano is connected to Tomamu, Niseko, and Rusutsu by shuttle bus.
